Cindy Crawford’s daughter is already following in her mother’s modelling footsteps… and she’s only 10.

Kaia Gerber resembles a younger Crawford in a photoshoot for Young Versace: the brand’s latest campaign that follows the first boutique - aimed at under-12s - opening in Milan, Italy.

Crawford was said to be on the set for the shoot and was comfortable with famed fashion photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott taking the photographs.

“I’m so thrilled that Kaia was chosen to be part of the Young Versace Campaign,” Crawford said in a news statement.

“I have so many fond memories of the times I spent with Gianni and Donatella. There is something so very special about the House of Versace.”

Crawford became synonymous with the fashion house in the 90s and was a muse for then-Versace-boss, Gianni Versace.

Donatella Versace was impressed by Kaia’s photoshoot and praised her modelling abilities.

“Like her mother, Kaia has a very special gift. The camera really, really loves her.

“Having Cindy on-set for the shoot took me back to all the amazing Avedon shoots we worked on together. It was such a special treat watching Kaia walk in her mother’s footsteps!”

Crawford was known as one of the modelling legends of the 1980s and 1990s, joining Naomi Campbell, Helena Christensen and Eva Herzigova in the ranks as one of the original ‘supermodels’.

Crawford ran successful modelling campaigns with Versace, Escada, Revlon, Ink and Maybelline, and appeared frequently on the covers of magazines such as Vogue. In 1988, she posed nude more than once for Playboy magazine.

Married to successful businessman Rande Gerber, the mother of two was more than approving of her daughter’s photoshoot, describing it as a ‘fantastic experience’.

But her leather jacket and short skirt have led some to comment that she is made-up to look far older than a 10-year-old should.

The discussion follows controversy over campaigns by other young celebrities such as Anais Gallagher, the 11 year old modelling daughter of former Oasis singer-songwriter Noel Gallagher; Lottie Moss, Kate Moss’ half-sister who debuted as a professional model at 13; and Kendall Jenner, the half-sister of the Kardashian trio who at 14, was photographed in exposing garments, such as a thin bikini.
