The Queen Covers Vanity Fair

The Duchess of Cambridge might have just appeared on the cover of Vogue, but the Queen isn’t letting her have the spotlight for too long – after all, it’s her 90th birthday!

To mark the milestone, Her Majesty appears on the cover of Vanity Fair’s latest issue (alongside her loyal corgis of course).

Shot by renowned photographer Annie Lebowitz, the image depicts the Queen beaming at the camera in the garden at Windsor Castle.

“The most moving, important thing about this shoot is that these were all her ideas,” says Leibovitz. “She wanted to be photographed with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her husband, Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh; her daughter, Anne, the Princess Royal; and her corgis.

“I was told how relaxed she was at Windsor, and it was really true. You get the sense of how at peace she was with herself, and very much enthralled with her family.”

Speaking of family, Robert Hardman, writer of the recent documentary special Queen at 90, recently told People he believes the Queen’s innate happiness comes from spending time with Prince Phillip, her husband of 68 years.

"They are probably doing more stuff together now than they've ever done,” Harman explained. “She looks incredibly happy these days. She's a lot more smiley. It's no doubt partly because the whole family and the institution is strong and contented, but a lot of it is down to him."
