The shift dress was first worn during the roaring 20s as a breakaway from the cinched-waist styles that had been suffocating women for so long. During the 60s the shift experienced a revival, with bright, patterned varieties becoming a must-have item. Today, the simple silhouette has gained popularity yet again and if the recent runways are anything to go by, we’re about to experience the summer of the shift!
