The 24 year-old's popularity surged after his application was hijacked by internet jokers. His appearance caught the attention of voters last month and he has since marched to victory beating 5,000 other contestants.
The competition, which was launched by High Street chain Next, asked members of the public to vote for their favourite contestants.
The computer engineer came runners up, after receiving an unbelievable 66,000 votes, compared to the winning blonde bombshell who got 89,000 votes.
Bunce is now one of 250 finalists who will compete for the ‘Make me a Model 2011’ title.

On his facebook fan page, Bunce wrote, “Thanks for all for the support and thanks to the person who started the group, I'm overwhelmed.”
The facebook page clocked up 10,000 ‘likes’ after the campaign for him to win the competition went viral.
A spokesperson for Next would not comment on Mr Bunce but said, “The level of interest has been phenomenal and there’s an astonishing amount of comment and coverage on all the social networking sites.”

Dont people realise this was a troll.. when his application got out on the web people thought it would be FUNNY to vote him in to see what would happen. They did not vote for him because they thought he was attractive.
ReplyCongrats mate all the best hope you go all the way - what a refreshing change
ReplyWhat is this all about? First it says he's beaten umpteen others to win top spot then it says he's one of 250 finalists. C'mon, give us the real story. Has he won or hasn't he? If he's won, then it's a badly written article. If he hasn't, it's a misleading heading. Give us some real news, not some media tripe.
ReplyGood on ya for having some self respect and brutal honesty and for being Australian enough to have a go. life isn't about being perfect but there's no harm in caring enough to try your best at getting as close to it as possible as apposed to not trying at all. thy body is a temple so the teaching goes and you reap what you sow. In my belief budda is a symbol of love and not excess. god bless you in your challenges and your life!
