A Dutch designer has created a dress that turns transparent when the wearer becomes aroused.

Intimacy 2.0 is a dress that has been sculpted from smart opaque e-foils, leather, and wireless technologies, and becomes see-through when the fabrics are electrified by a quickening heartbeat.

Its award-winning designer, Daan Roosegaarde, credits his style as one of 'techno-poetry'.

"Intimacy 2.0 is a fashion project exploring the relation between intimacy and technology," Roosegaarde said.

"Technology is used here not merely functional but also as a tool to create intimacy as well as privacy on a direct, personal level which in our contemporary society, is becoming increasingly important."

The dress has already earned Roosegaarde a myriad of swards, including the Dutch Design Award and China's Most Successful Design Award, whilst also being placed on display in China itself.

Roosegaarde is said to be currently working towards producing a fashion version of the dress that would be available on the high street market that responds to the wearer's feelings of excitement or embarrassment.

While the dress is futuristic, some have questioned its purpose - suggesting it could potentially lead to some very embarrassing situations. For example, anyone worry what might happen if you're running late for the bus?
