Thought lace was only for brides on their wedding day? Think again. The soundtrack for the red carpet at the 70th Annual Golden Globes Awards could have been Madonna’s “Like a Virgin” as a parade of Hollywood’s leading ladies rocked the red carpet in sheer, barely-there lace gowns that blurred the line between innocence and scandal, romantic and risqué!
Leading the charge was Jennifer Lopez in her sheer body-baring, cream lace Zuhair Murad gown with long sleeves and lots of flesh. It reminded me of the barely there, unforgettable low-cut leafy Versace gown she wore to the Grammys in 2000 and made her one of the nights best dressed. Classy and controversial…she looked every inch the star.
Amy Adams had one of her all time best fashion moments in a nude/ pale pink lace Marchesa dress, Christian Louboutin bag, and Tiffany & Co jewels. The 38-year-old actress walked the red carpet with fiancé Darren Le Gallo and while she didn’t win Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Peggy Dodd in The Master, she won my fashion vote with her fun and whimsical mermaid silhouette.
Megan Fox proved why she’s one of Hollywood’s hottest women and so popular with the men. Just months after giving birth to her first child, her ridiculously flawless post-baby bod (this is NOT normal!) was shown off to perfection in a magnificent strapless lace gown by Dolce & Gabbana.
Amanda Seyfried looked anything but The Les Miserable in a stunning white gown by Givenchy, featuring subtle geometric panels, peek-a-boo panels and a sleek silhouette.
On the darker side was Eva Longoria in a custom deep blue/black lace Emilio Pucci dress, Charlotte Olympia heels and earrings by Martin Katz. The 37-year-old not-so-Desperate Housewife took a leaf out of Angelina Jolie’s book with a thigh-baring, temperature raising split that unashamedly exposed a toned tanned leg.Julia Louis-Dreyfus jumped on the lace bandwagon in a custom Vera Wang dress, Fred Leighton jewelry, Jimmy Choo shoes, and a Judith Leiber clutch. Not only did the clever Veep actress celebrate her 52nd birthday at the awards ceremony, but she managed to look stately and sultry in her black and white confection.
