The long-standing rumour about the Church of Scientology’s involvement in holding auditions for Tom Cruise’s partners has been confirmed by ex-Scientologist Paul Haggis.
According to sources, an auditioning process was carried out by the organization, in which actresses who were already Scientologists were asked to audition for what they thought would be a role in a new training film. The actresses were then asked a series of questions including, “What do you think of Tom Cruise?”
Orth reports that Scientology officials settled on an Iranian-born, London-raised actress named Nazanin Boniadi. The actress dated Tom Cruise briefly from November 2004 to January 2005.
On September 2, former scientologist and Oscar-winning filmmaker Paul Haggis confirmed the reports that the auditioning took place in an email which he wrote to Showbizz 411.
Vanity Fair reports that Boniadi was audited for a whole month in October 2004. The process involved her telling her inner-most secrets and details of her sex life to a Scientology official. Boniadi was also told to “lose her braces, her red highlights and her boyfriend.”
Orth’s sources claim that Cruise’s displays of public affection became too much for the actress. She was eventually forced to move out of Cruise’s home, where she had been living, and move into Scientology’s Celebrity Centre. She was then transferred to another Scientology Centre in Florida.
