I’m sure like most DIY enthusiasts you’ve often asked yourself, “how do I make a table out of a door?”. Luckily I happen to be an expert and I’ll happily take you through the important steps and have you playing Canasta on your new creation in no time.

Step 1. Get a door
I’ve found that using a door that is no longer attached to a wall frame is the best one to use. Especially a door with character or that means something to you. The door I used is a 1950’s timber door that I was actually hoping to use as a door but it was too small for the required space. Second hand timber yards have stacks and stacks of doors and you can pick them up for a steal.

Step 2. Get some legs
I managed to find some black legs at a large store that sells loads of things including black table legs. They came with four self-tapping screws per leg so it was easy to evenly attach them to the old table. You may want to use timber legs that can be painted or stained.

Step 3. Set the table upright
Some people forget this step but it’s incredibly important to have the legs on the ground so your table can actually be used as a table.

Step 4. Get some chairs
I used church pews for our outdoor table but a mix’n’match of any old chairs would look good. Plastic chairs often work around a wooden table because they help accentuate the timber.
