ReplyWe had all new turf layed (Sir Walter) back in December 2011. (Christmas Week) On the day half way through the heavens opened. The tractor ploughing the old grass and levelling out the area had to stop work. It rained so much that we had 10cm of deep mud everywhere. The next day the turf was layed. The workers were up to their ankles in mud. Now we have beautiful looking lawn but when you mow it, it’s like mowing over corrugated ridges. I was told that this would settle down. I’m thinking that I need to top-dress to fill theses corrugations left between where the rolls of turf meet up and the holes left underfoot where the workers laying the turf walked through the mud. Hence, leaving deep holes under-foot. (I'm worried someone might twist an ankle if you were to run on my grass area.) Could you tell me when is the best time to top-dress my lawn so as I do not kill it?
