Wrapping-paper storageA mailing tube from the post office is an excellent way to store rolls of gift-wrap, keeping them in mint condition until you have a present to wrap. Just spray-paint the tube in your colour of choice and leave it to dry before filling with tightly wound rolls of gift-wrap (use Blu-Tack to hold the paper’s corners down). So you remember what you’ve stored, cut small strips from each roll, paste them to a label, then slip it into a small plastic sleeve attached to the tube.
Top storage solutions for your home
Rolling on a ribbonSet up a quick ’n’ easy dispenser so your ribbon spools are ready for use. You’ll need a small plastic storage container featuring side slots and a depth roughly equal to (or slightly deeper than) the diameter of the spools. Cut a piece of 9mm diameter dowel to measure the width of the container, plus 80mm extra for overhang. Slide the dowel through a hole at one end of the container, load it with the ribbon spools, then push it out the other end of the container. Attach a bulldog clip at each end of the dowel to secure and feed the ribbon ends through the front slots.
Greeting cards:If you buy cards for birthdays ahead of time, or like to take advantage of seasonal sales, keep your stash conveniently organised in a box. Store them by month and/or occasion so you can easily select the perfect card to go with your gift when needed. Start with a large lidded box to suit the dimensions of a set of index cards. If you wish, use Mod Podge to glue scrapbooking paper to each index card, including the tab. When dry, trim the paper to size and label the tab. Write a list of birth dates and special occasions, and file under the appropriate month or occasion. A book of stamps comes in handy, too!
