Do use microwave safe containers

Suitable plates and containers are usually marked or stamped on their bottoms. For safety's sake, if you're unsure whether a bowl, dish or plate is microwave-safe, don't use it. Or, if the plate or container is made of glass, you can perform a test if you're pretty sure it's safe for microwave cooking: place it in the oven and microwave it for one minute. Then, touch it. If it's lukewarm to the touch or it feels cool, it should be safe. But if the container is warm, don't use it in your microwave oven.

I thought I was going to learn something new from this, but it's all general and basic common sense tips. There was no "Watch out when you microwave your oatmeal porridge, as the porridge level goes up and can overflow from your container when the temperature rises" or "Don't microwave calamari rings. If you have to, only for a few seconds. Watch it when you do and turn off the microwave at once the moment you hear even just a small pop... or else the calamari will explode a few seconds later, and you'll have a very messy oven to clean."

The idea that water boiled in a microwave cannot grow anything is an urban myth. Try it yourself instead of believing the myth. Boil some water 10 times using the microwave, you can still grow anything with it. Whatever happened to those "easy to use" microwave ovens with ONLY two dial knobs? One for time and the other for heat setting. So much easier to use than these silly digital types.
