Save about $100 a year on your energy bill and about 100kg in carbon emissions by switching off your computer at the end of the day.

And, if you're replacing your computer, remember that laptops and notebooks use less energy than a desktop PC.
Ditch bottled water and drink tap water instead. It takes three litres of water to produce one litre of bottled water.
Pack yourself a healthy, homemade - and maybe even home-grown - lunch in a container you wash and re-use. You can save up to $10 a day.
Buy foods like grains and nuts in bulk and use recycled glass jars to store them in the pantry.
Feed dogs bones, not canned food. It's cheaper, healthier and eliminates tin cans and paper labels. Buy a $2 bag at the butcher and store it in the freezer for a handy supply.

Better Homes is more delicious than ever. Try...

I didn't know that laptops used less power than desktops. Bags of Dog bones - not $2, more like $5 to $8 unless you're giving them very fatty cuts and that will increase your vet bills.
ReplyBones are OK as a treat or teeth cleaner but the ones from the butchers don't have enough meat on them to satisfy a large size dobermann. My dogs bury their bones rather than eat them right away and butchers charge heaps for bones in the Cairns area. Our freezer space is at a premium because I make and freeze dinners and lunches ahead of time...not to mention veges.
ReplyNot everyone has treated tap water. The bore water we use when rainwater fails is okay to shower and do dishes, even teeth and washing, but drink? The acidity is too high, lots of market gardens around and the government are talking about dumping treated sewage into the local aquifer. Not healthy in the least. There is however enough natural flouride in it and our now adult children have perfect teeth, it's a matter of diet.
ReplyI can't believe that anyone still has to advise people to drink tap water. But then, I couldn't understand anyone buying bottled in the first place. What a con, and no protection for teeth to boot.
ReplyMay I suggest that dry food would be a lot cheaper and healthier for the dog.
