Smoothies and frappes
Filled with sugar these so called 'healthy' drinks are filled with fake juice and sugar filled yoghurt. Stop buying and make your own at home, Add frozen berries, freshly squeezed juice and natural yoghurt.

Granola
In small doses granola can we be super satisfying and can add fiber to your diet. But it is full of sugar which is why it should not be eaten in excess. Go for raw muesli instead.

Try: Muesli topped with stewed rhubarb and greek style yoghurt

Bran muffins
Anything with the word 'muffin' in it is not healthy. Just because bran flour is used, these muffins could be potentially filled with sugar and preservatives. Homemade bran muffins are fine because you know what you put in them.

Try: Banana bran muffins

Whole gain Wraps
Just because they are flat it doesn't mean they aren’t full of calories, especially whole-grain ones. These tend to be filled up with sugar to make them taste better. If you do enjoy wraps, head to the health food store and buy organic ones.

Try:Egg, ham and vegetable wrap

Fat-free cheese

Anything fat-free or reduced-fat will not help you lose weight. Everything that is fat-free tends to be heaped with sugar to make it taste more like the full-fat products. According to American research, full-fat dairy can lower your risk of diabetes.

Fat-free salad dressing

Same rule as the fat-free cheese rule, just say no. Choose heart healthy olive oils, nut oils, canola oil and avocado oils. If you want a bit of zing add a squeeze of lemon or balsamic vinegar.

Rice cakes
These are just empty calories. They do not contain any nutrients and the flavour versions are full of sugar.

Veggie burgers
They may seem the obvious 'healthy option' but frozen veggie burgers contain loads of filler ingredients such as sodium. Make sure when you order out to ask the waiter what they are made out of.

Diet soft drinks

You should know by now that diet and sugar-free mean lots of extra additives. Stay away from all diet drinks and fizzy drinks if you can, there is nothing beneficial about them.
