Floating deck
If you love the tones and textures of timber decking but don’t have space next to your house, you can use it to create a central feature instead. Elevated slightly and floating in a sea of perennial flowers – such as geum and irises – it makes a delightful feature for a small backyard. And the addition of a tree (here, Acer campestre) creates a living umbrella for sunny days.
