Perfume flowers - Frangipanis

There is perhaps no other tree as capable of evoking thoughts of sumptuous, exotic and tropical locations as the frangipani. Across the warm months, lush and lavish foliage conceals the fascinating angular branching pattern of this beautiful small tree. Yet that is only a small part of the picture – the true allure of the frangipani lies in its gorgeous, divinely fragrant flowers. Colours range from the instantly recognisable snow-white with buttery-yellow eye across an entire range of sunset hues: pinks, reds, yellows and peaches, often with multiple shades in the one bloom.
Use it:
* As a tropical-look feature tree.
*In a large pot, as a focal point.
*To provide delicious shade in a courtyard.

Grow it:
Frangipani requires full sun to part shade. Though it needs a frost-free location, it will grow in cooler zones in a sheltered spot in full sun. Protect from wind and plant in good quality free-draining soil with added organic material, such as compost or manure, or premium quality potting mix. Suits zones 6-8 and warm sheltered spots in 3.
