Classic lavender bags are easier to make than you think. Coat your fabric with fabric stiffener so the raw edges stay tidy. Then, go to town and pretty them up with bead accents.

Gather your supplies
Printed cotton or lawn
Card
Cotton tape
Assorted seed and bugle beads to match fabric colours
Dried lavender or toy filling
Thread to match cotton
Fabric stiffener
Paintbrush
Bamboo skewer
Here's How
- Step 1: Mix equal parts fabric stiffener and water. Paint fabric with mixture and leave to dry. When dry, iron flat.
- Step 2: Using a photocopier, enlarge Heart Felt Diagram to 153% to make a template. Trace 2 hearts onto fabric and cut out. Hand stitch beads over top of design on 1 heart.
- Step 3: Cut cotton tape to 18cm and press in half. Lay hearts on top of each other, wrong sides facing. Insert tape at top and pin. Beginning on 1 side, carefully stitch around heart 4mm from edge, leaving a small opening for stuffing.
- Step 4: Using skewer, lightly stuff heart with lavender or toy filling and slipstitch or top stitch closed.
