Turn a cardboard box into a glorious castle fit for a king and queen … and their magical animals.

Gather your supplies

  • Sturdy cardboard box
  • Ruler
  • Pencil and eraser
  • Craft knife
  • Scissors
  • Acrylic paint and paintbrushes
  • String
  • Stickers and stick-on gems
  • Here's How

    • Step 1: Using a ruler and pencil, mark out the castle battlements and towers on the cardboard box (use the picture as a guide). Ask an adult to help you cut these out with scissors or a craft knife.
    • Step 2: Draw a drawbridge at the front of the castle. Using the point of a pair of scissors, poke 2 small holes in the top of the drawbridge and 2 holes in the wall above. Cut out the drawbridge, leaving the bottom still attached.
    • Step 3: Paint the castle in your favourite colour. Let dry, then add stickers and stick-on gems. Thread a piece of string between drawbridge and wall holes, making sure to tie a knot at each end so the strings don’t slip through. Now you’re ready to play.
