Create your own rock band with these great craft ideas.

Kids tambourine
STEP 1: Lay 2 paper plates the wrong side up on newspaper so you won’t make a mess. Once you’ve painted the plates and allowed them to dry, use alphabet stickers to create a word. We spelled out ‘rock’. Then paint on a few music notes.
STEP 2: Staple plates together and use scissors (ask an adult to help you) to make 8 evenly spaced holes around the rim of the plates. Thread ribbon or twine through the holes.
STEP 3: To make the metal jingles of the tambourine, poke a hole through the middle of each tin-foil wrapper from the chocolate coins and tie to the outside rim.
CRAFTY TIPIf you can’t find chocolate coins at your local shops, you can make your own coins to use as tambourine jingles. Just trace real coins onto aluminium foil and cut out the pieces.

Kids guitar
STEP 1: Paint empty tissue box and kitchen-paper roll in bright colours. Allow to dry, then cover tissue box in your fave stickers.
STEP 2: Carefully stretch 4 large elastic bands lengthways around tissue box to create the guitar strings. Slide a pencil under one end, near the hole.
STEP 3: Using sticky tape, secure kitchen-paper roll to pencil end of tissue box.

Kids xylophone
STEP 1: Save 5 or more glass jars from the kitchen recycling, wash them in warm soapy water and dry with a tea towel. Paint all the lids in different colours.
STEP 2: In each jar, add a few drops of food colouring, and a few teaspoons of matching glitter. Then, pour in different amounts of water and replace the lids. Give each jar a little shake and stand all in a row, then gently tap each one with a spoon to create a tune.
CRAFTY TIPthe water level, the higher the pitch.

Kids maracas
Paint the outside of each Pringles container in bright colours. Once dry, cover them in fun stickers.
STEP 2: Use the sharp point of the scissors (ask an adult to help you) to create a hole in the middle of each lid. Push through 3 different-coloured or patterned ribbons so they dangle on the outside of the lid. Then, knot the ends together underneath the lid.
STEP 3: Pour half a cup of popping-corn kernels into each container and add a few sprinkles of glitter. Make sure the lid is tightly secured. For extra strength, you may want to wrap sticky tape around the outside of the lid, just in case it comes undone when you are shaking away.
