Belle of the ball

Gather your supplies

-Moda Vera Chantilly (50g), 1 ball each cream and green;
-Moda Vera Mousse (50g), 1 ball purple;
-4.50mm crochet hook; fibrefill; wool needle

Tension: 5dc = 3.5cm;
4 rows = 2cm

HERE’S HOW

Note: Make 2 balls of each size from each of the
3 colours (18 balls in all, 6 in each colour).

Small ball
1st Round: Make 2ch, 5dc into second ch from hook,
sl st into first dc … 5 dc.
2nd Round: Place marker for start of round.
2dc into each of next 5dc … 10 dc.
3rd Round: 1dc into each st to end of round.
4th Round: Rep round 3.
5th Round: * Dec over next 2 sts, rep from * to end of round … 5 dc.
Fill the ball with fibrefill.
6th Round: 1dc into each st. Finish off and thread the end through the last 5 sts, pull closed and sew in ends.

Medium ball
1st Round: Make 2ch, 7dc into second ch from hook,
sl st into first dc … 7 dc.
2nd Round: Place marker at start of round. 2dc into each of next 7 dc … 14 dc.
3rd Round: 1dc into each st to end of round.
4th and 5th Rounds: Rep round 3.
6th Round: * Dec over next 2 sts, rep from * to end of round … 7 dc.
Fill the ball with fibrefill.
7th Round: 1dc into each st. Finish off and thread the end through the last 7 sts, pull closed and sew in ends.

Large ball
1st Round: Make 2ch, 6dc into second ch from hook,
sl st into first dc … 6 dc.
2nd Round: Place marker for start of round. 2dc into each of next 6dc … 12 dc.
3rd Round: * 2dc into next dc, 1dc into next dc, rep from * to end of round … 18 dc.
4th Round: 1dc into each st to end of round.
5th, 6th and 7th Rounds: Rep round 4.
8th Round: * Dec over next 2 sts, 1dc into next st, rep from * to end of round … 12 dc.
9th Round: * Dec over next 2 sts, rep from * to end of round … 6 dc.
Fill the ball with fibrefill.
10th Round: 1dc into each st.
Finish off and thread end through last 6 sts, pull closed and sew in ends.

Make up: Pull off 5m purple Mousse and thread 1 end through the needle. Take large purple ball and thread onto the yarn until the end disappears into the ball. Anchor yarn with a small stitch into the top. * Using crochet hook, pick up a sl st in top of ball and make 10ch, pulling yarn through last st to make a slipknot. Thread yarn through a medium green ball until the slipknot disappears into the ball. Anchor as before. Rep from * to add on all balls. Thread balls as follows: (large purple, medium green, small cream, large green, medium cream, small purple, large cream, medium purple, small green) twice. When you have added last ball, work 10ch and anchor to first ball. Fasten off and sew in ends.
