You'll never have to worry about getting a foot in the door again.

Finished size: 20 x 38cm

Gather your supplies

- Makes 1 doorstop: 30 x 50cm quality cotton fabric;
- Matching sewing thread;
- 30cm beaded wire;
- Scrap brown felt;
- Long silk scrap;

- 1kg rice

Here’s how

For each doorstop

STEP 1 Enlarge template, as directed, and cut out 3 fabric pear shapes and 2 felt leaf shapes.

STEP 2 Leaving a gap at bottom for filling and with right sides facing, stitch together the 3 pear shapes with a 5mm seam. Snip into seams at 1cm intervals and turn through.

STEP 3 Using a funnel, fill the shape with rice and neatly slipstitch the opening closed.

STEP 4 Sandwich end of a 10cm length of beaded wire between the felt leaves, then glue them together. For stem, wrap silk along two-thirds of length of 10cm-long wire; tie to secure.

STEP 5 Poke wire ends of stem and leaf into top of pear, then bend stem and leaf as desired

    I finally found the template! It's in the April 2009 edition of BH&G Magazine. Went back today through all the ones I had saved & so thankful to have found it - been wanting to make these doorstops for ages!
