An easy pattern with an interesting rib effect.

You'll need:
1 pair each 4.00mm (No 8) and 3.25mm (No 10) Knitting Needles or sizes needed to give correct tension. 2 Stitch Holders.

Quantities are approximate as they vary between knitters. It is important to use only the yarn specified for this garment as other yarns may give unsatisfactory results.

Here's how
TENSION - 22 sts and 30 rows to 10 cm over stocking st, using 4.00mm Needles, and 34 sts and 30 rows to 10 cm over patt (slightly stretched), using 4.00mm Needles.
To work tension squares, use 4.00mm Needles, cast on 33 sts. Work 44 rows stocking st. Cast off loosely. Using 4.00mm Needles, cast on 54 sts.
1st row - K2, * P2, K2, rep from * to end.
2nd row - P2, * K2, P2, rep from * to end.
Rep 1st and 2nd rows 21 times ... 44 rows rib.
Cast off loosely in rib.
Please check your tension carefully. If less sts use smaller needles, if more sts use bigger needles.

Using 4.00mm Needles, cast on 146 (162-182) sts.
Beg patt - Note - This instruction has been written specifically for the stitch pattern given. Using any other stitch may result in a garment that is the wrong shape or size.
1st row - K2, * P2, K2, rep from * to end.
2nd row - P2, * K2, P2, rep from * to end.
3rd row - As 1st row.
4th row - Knit.
Rep rows 1 to 4 incl 6 times.
Rep 1st and 2nd rows only until work measures 40 cm for Short Length, or 50 cm for Long Length, from beg, ending with a 1st row.
Next row - Knit.
SHAPE ARMHOLES - Working in patt as for rows 1 to 4 incl for rem, cast off 8 (10-13) sts at beg of next 2 rows ... 130 (142-156) sts.
Keeping patt correct, dec at each end of every row until 120 (128-134) sts rem, then in alt rows until 114 (122-128) sts rem. **
Work 47 (49-47) rows patt.
SHAPE SHOULDERS - Cast off 11 (12-12) sts at beg of next 4 rows, then 12 (12-13) sts at beg of foll 2 rows.
Leave rem 46 (50-54) sts on a stitch-holder.
FRONT
Work as for Back to **.
Work 23 (23-19) rows patt.
SHAPE NECK - Next row - Patt 45 (48-50), turn.
*** Cont on these 45 (48-50) sts.
Keeping patt correct, dec at neck edge in every row until 41 (44-46) sts rem, then in alt rows until 34 (36-37) sts rem.
Work 5 rows patt.
SHAPE SHOULDER - Cast off 11 (12-12) sts at beg of next row and foll alt row. Work 1 row. Cast off rem 12 (12-13) sts. ***
Slip next 24 (26-28) sts onto stitch-holder and leave.
Join yarn to rem sts and patt to end.
Rep from *** to ***, working 6 rows instead of 5 before shoulder shaping.
SLEEVES
Using 4.00mm Needles, cast on 82 (86-90) sts.
1st row - K2, * P2, K2, rep from * to end.
2nd row - P2, * K2, P2, rep from * to end.
Last 2 rows form rib patt for sleeves.
Cont in rib patt, inc at each end of 3rd and foll 6th (4th-4th) rows until there are 100 (92-114) sts, then in foll 8th (6th-6th) rows until there are 114 (124-134) sts.
Cont in rib patt without shaping until work measures 43 cm (or length desired) from beg, ending with a 2nd row.
SHAPE TOP - Keeping patt correct, cast off 5 (8-11) sts at beg of next 2 rows ... 104 (108-112) sts.
Dec at each end of next and alt row ... 100 (104-108) sts.
Dec at each end of every row until 18 sts rem.
Cast off in rib.
COLLAR
Using back-stitch, join right shoulder seam. With right side facing and using 3.25mm Needles, knit up 24 (26-28) sts evenly along left side of neck, knit across front stitch-holder thus - (K2tog) 0 (0-2) times, * K1, K2tog, rep from *
to last 0 (2-0) sts, K0 (2-0); knit up 24 (26-28) sts evenly along right side of neck, then knit across back stitch-holder thus - (K2tog) 1 (2-0) time/s, * rib 1, K2tog, rep from * to last 2 (4-0) sts, (K2tog) 1 (2-0) time/s ... 94 (102-110) sts.
Work 21 rows rib patt as for sleeves, beg with a 2nd row.
Change to 4.00mm Needles.
Work a further 22 rows rib patt.
Cast off loosely in rib.
MAKE UP
With a slightly damp cloth and warm iron (unless otherwise stated on ball band), press lightly on wrong side taking care not to flatten patt. Using back-stitch, join left shoulder and collar seam, reversing seam on Collar at needle change. Using back-stitch, join side and sleeve seams. Sew in sleeves. Fold collar in half at needle change onto right side. Press seams.
