Triangles and squares combine to form the Tree of Paradise quilt block above. An antique example is displayed on page 24 in the September 2005 Better Homes and Gardens magazine.

This design is a grid of 49 separate patches or 7 x 7 but larger trees can be made with 6 coloured triangles across the top and 6 down the side. Simply increase the length of the trunk.

We recommend each patch be a finished size of 2" square (then add your seam allowance! )

TIP: Even numbered grids (say 2 x 2 or 6 x 6) allow for symmetrical designs; odd numbered grids such as this Tree of Life can be orientated around a single centre point.
