This is a common disease of kangaroo paws and is especially severe on the green and red kangaroo paw, Anigozanthos manglesii.
It's identified by black, ink-like markings which usually begin at the leaf tips and then spread to cover the entire plant. Plants growing in high summer rainfall areas or cool, moist districts are particularly susceptible.
Control:
In unfavourable climates grow the vigorous species A. flavidus, which shows resistance to this disease.
Always provide excellent drainage and plenty of air circulation between plants.
Remove and burn affected leaves. The plant may be sprayed but this is not always successful.
