If you want to look after your eyes, give high-fat food a miss.

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) may be influenced by high-glycaemic-index carbohydrates in a similar way to diabetes, according to US researchers at Tufts University, in Boston. They studied more than 4000 people, aged from 55-80. Those people who regularly ate carbs that quickly raise blood-sugar levels (white-flour products) increased their risk of AMD compared to others who ate a low-GI diet - whole grains, legumes, lean meats and most vegetables.
