Alan Buki and Wayne Lewis from Original & Mineral and Atlantis Hair share their expert colour and styling advice about how to achieve Rita’s famous blonde locks.
"To create Rita's blonde on blonde hair, we would look at using O&M's Blue Pearl Lightener on her roots that is O&M’s 100% ammonia free bleach. Once we have lifted up and cleaned out her root area and achieved a clean blonde, we would then tone all of her hair with O&M’s Mineral CCT in 9/6 that is the lightest violet blonde. This would help eliminate any unwanted yellow or gold tones in her hair. " Wayne Lewis, Technical Director for Original & Mineral and Colour Director for Atlantis Hair.
"Before styling her hair, we would look at using a protein treatment such as O&M's Power Base. Then when styling her hair, we would spray both O&M’s Atonic thickening spritz for heat protection and O&M’s Surf Bomb sea salt spray for texture before we would start to blow-dry. Then we would roughly blow-dry with fingers to keep all the body and the texture in the hair. Then we would re-spritz with O&M’s Atonic before taking large sections of hair and using a conical iron, take small sections working from the face back to create a soft tussled curl. Seal the ends with Frizzy Logic style serum as blonde hair needs lots of moisture on the ends." Alan Buki, Co-Founder for Original & Mineral and Owner for Atlantis Hair.
