XPD WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS - ADVENTURE RACING

Adventure racing may be able to hold its own in terms of excitement and dramatic feats, however the prize money doesn't anywhere near reflect this. This year the World Championships with be held in Tasmania and the winning team will take home AUD$30,000 in prize money. When you consider the investment required to even enter an Adventure Race, this doesn't leave much to play with!

Sports people at the top of their games should be able to expect a healthy pay packet when they win events, however the amount varies wildly depending on what sport they take part in. Here Banzai lifts the lid on prize money for some of the world's biggest events.

    Inexperienced writers? What do you mean, Ian? This is the World Championships and it's held in a different country every year. It's a great opportunity for Aussies to take part and show the rest of the world what kind of Adventure Racers that we are. But yes, it doesn't yield very high rewards...

    Not all people take up a particular sport to profit from it. The sport is obviously associated with inexperienced writers (with be held in Tasmania)?

    It's because they don't need to attract people to this sport. Anyone who likes this kind of thing will be into it. It's a participant sport, not a spectator one, so people will not pay to watch it.
