About Melissa Rollison

Every now and then you come across one of those extraordinary people who excel in every sport they attempt. 28 year old Melissa Rollison is one of those people.

At the age of 11 she represented her state in 800m, and won the Australian Cross Country Championships. Fast forward a few years, several Australian titles and a handful of world records, Melissa represented Australia at the Commonwealth Games, taking home a silver medal and a new Australian record in the 3000m steeplechase.

When injury forced her out of contention for the Delhi Commonwealth Games, she turned to cross training to keep up her fitness. It was at this point that she made the switch from running to triathlon - a decision that has set her on a whole new path to success.

During her short time competing in triathlon, Melissa's results have included:
- 1st, Kinsgscliffe Triathlon (Olympic distance)
- 1st, Raby Bay (sprint distance)
- 1st, Gold Coast Half Ironman in a new course record

- 2nd, Asia Pacific 70.3 Championships in Phuket

.....and today, a stunning 1st place at the 2011 Noosa Triathlon, one of Australia's biggest and most favourite, beating hot favourite Emma Jackson, who has had a spectacular year on the ITU world circuit. Congratulations Melissa!

Why, I ask, is the Quantas issue not being given comment opportunity on Yahoo? Think about it. Seems that politics gets in the way of a story that needs to be argued, especially by stakeholders. Surely you can do better Yahoo. Comment must be heard and seen to be heard from the general public.
