The Nissan/BRW Corporate Triathlon National Series has an iconic status amongst the Australian corporate community. Now in its 24th year the unique event format fosters the development of important corporate values such as team work, company pride and camaraderie whilst simultaneously promoting the benefits of a healthy and active lifestyle. In 2010 the series attracted over 15,400 competitors from more than 1,300 of Australia’s biggest companies. Participants went head to head with world champion triathletes, celebrities and their CEO’s. In Sydney they swam in the most spectacular harbour in the world and in Melbourne participants were a part of the southern hemisphere’s largest triathlon. The series is truly one of a kind.
This is a sprint triathlon is comprised of a 400m swim, 8km cycle and 4km run.
Course Description
Swim-400mStaggered wave starts. A straight swim in Farm Cove close to the sea wall. The course will be clearly marked with yellow Nissan/BRW turning buoys. If you get into any trouble please raise your hand so one of the lifesavers can attend to you.
Cycle - 8kmThe cycle course is totally closed to traffic and is two laps to Hospital Road and back. It is important that all competitors take particular care on the course, especially if it is wet and / or windy.
Drafting is Cheating! - A space of four bike lengths must be left between all riders. The draft marshals will be strict and a 5-minute penalty rule will apply for any infringements. You must then attend the penalty box prior to the cycle finish located near the bike compound.
Run - 4kmThe run leg is an out and back course through the along the outside of the cycle course and through parts of the Botanic Gardens. Competitors finish by Mrs Macquaries Chair. There will be two drink stations on the run course, at run start and near the half way mark.
Important points to note for the cycle & run leg:- Take care when you exit and enter the bike compound
- Stay to the left, unless overtaking
- Slow right down when you have to U-turn
- Please ride carefully and safely at all times
