The event will be held on Easter Monday at the Sydney International Regatta Centre. The course will be set at the same distance used at the ITU World Paratriathlon Championships being a 750m Swim, 20km Cycle and 5km Run. The event will give athletes with a disability in Australia the opportunity to race on a course and at a venue that is designed to enable all classes of athletes to compete with safety.
The event will have both an individual component where the athletes complete all 3 legs as well as relay event where disabled swimmers, cyclist and runners can combine to be involved in this exciting new sport.
Recently it was announced that Paratriathlon will be included in the Paralympic Games in 2016 and Triathlon NSW will use this even as test event to host qualifying events for Paratriathlon World Championships and Paralympic Games in the future.

Triathlon NSW President, Grant Leslie said that “this is a fantastic opportunity for Triathlon to reach out to athletes to compete in an event specifically tailored to the needs of para triathletes. As a first event, and as a test event for eventual Paralympic selection, we are hoping for a great turn out so that next year it will be bigger and better”.
