In Australia, women’s sport receives just 9% of total TV sports coverage. Women's Health saw this as an opportunity to challenge this inequality, provoke debate and demonstrate support for Australian sportswomen, from the Matildas to the local community netball competition. They want to promote positive female role models and highlight sporting achievements that are clearly being missed, and encourage more women to get involved in sport in their local community. In January 2011 Women’s Health launched the ‘I support Women in Sport’ campaign. The campaign will run for 10 months, and culminate in the inaugural ‘Women in Sport’ awards.
