Bronze medal at Winter X Games….!
I’m still in shock! I have been receiving so many lovely messages, emails, texts from everyone around the world but especially from home. Thanks so much to all of you, it really has been overwhelming.

The Winter X Games used to be our Olympics for Ski Cross (before 2010) so this medal is pretty special to me. It’s certainly one I always wanted but after deciding in 2009 that I would never do another X Games, I let that dream go!
I decided to go back this year and give it another go for a few reasons. The main reason being that so many girls were injured last year that I thought they’d tame the course down a little and also because I’d never actually gone and enjoyed myself! I’ve always had too much expectations on myself, wanting the podium and then chocking!
This year I went to X Games not going if I was even going to start. I wanted to go with the intentions of racing but pulling out of the event if I thought it was to dangerous (I’m to old for any more serious injuries!!).
The course was much easier then any other X Games course I’ve done but still with some pretty intimidating features such as a road gap jump of 40ft, a butter box with about 20ft gap, with an ice wall and also a 20ft drop if you didn’t make it to crash into! Plus a 70ft jump into the finish!
My goal was to have fun and fun alone. As long as I had a smile on my face and skied as well as I could, I would have been happy no matter what the outcome was. The bronze medal is just the cherry!
I’m super happy, excited, over the moon, can’t believe it etc etc etc!
Watch a short reply here:
Team mate, Katya Crema also came along this year for a crack at the big track. It was nice to have another Aussie there. She had a ball and it was great experience for her. She’s a little disappointed in her skiing but I’m sure she’s know where to change a few things for next year. Katya finished 11th.
Thanks again to all of you that sent though messages and an even bigger thanks to all my Team Owens members, Travelplan Ski, Agility Consulting Group, URM Group, Beachwheels Automotives, XTM, Perisher, Ravenswood Girls Ski Team, mum, dad and Jan. Great support from you all and you all help me get here and are a HUGE part of this.
My personal sponsors, Southern Alps Ski Club, Stockli, Smith Optics, Giro and Leki OWIA, as always, have been amazing towards there support as well as the AIS, NSWIS and SSA.
I now head up to Blue Mountain for the next World Cup which I’m excited about. My goal there is to have just as much fun as I did here!!
Enjoy the photos (thanks to my personal photographer – Katya Crema).
