As with socks, it’s far preferable to be toasty warm than freezing cold. Laying is the key. Always start with a base layer of thermals – you’re at the snow, not the Bahamas. Depending on where you’re skiing will decide the next few layers, however in Australia you’ll usually be ok with just a fleece (or even t-shirt) and ski jacket over the top. Overseas in drastically sub zero temperatures, you’ll need clothes that are suited to the conditions. Ask the locals what they wear, and purchase any new gear necessary to layer up and enjoy your time.
