Ron Clarke

Ron Clarke set 17 world records in his career, however was unfortunate in Olympic competition only winning 1 bronze medal. Clarke dominated middle distance running in the 1960's and inspired many Australians into athletics. Clarke did receive an Olympic gold medal (1952 10,000m medal) from good friend & fellow runner Czech Emil Zatopec with the note "Look after this. You deserve it".
