John Landy

John Landy, is credited with igniting Australia's passion for Athletics in the 1950's as he strove to break the 4 minute mile. Roger Bannister became the first man in May 1954, but just 7 weeks later Landy claimed the world record (3:58) and inspired a nation. Landy famously raced in the 'Miracle Mile' in Vancouver in 1954 and paved the way for Ron Clarke, Herb Elliot & many more Australian greats.
