BEGINNER: If you've never participated in an organised ocean swim, change that in 2013! Those who are nervous to navigate through the waves can join a program such as Can Too or OceanFit to help overcome these fears.
INTERMEDIATE: If you've completed a couple of ocean swims in the past, set yourself a distance challenge this year. For example, commit to completing 10kms of ocean swimming events, and decide if this will be 5 x 2km races, or 10 x 1km events.
ADVANCED: Seasoned swimmers can push the boundaries by increasing the distance you usually compete in or train hard to increase your speed. Set a challenge against yourself this year, and go hard to improve on it next year.
