Herbal teas contain antioxidants, which help to control the free radicals linked to premature ageing, heart disease and cancer.
The best type of tea for athletes is actually green tea: not only does it contain high levels of antioxidants, but clinical trials have also shown that it improves endurance.
The antioxidants found in green tea encourage the muscle cells to use fatty acids. This helps to control lactic acid production, so you can stay on your feet for longer.
After exercise drink camomile tea, which is very soothing and has an anti-inflammatory effect. Yarrow tea (available from selected health food stores) can also be helpful after exercise, as the herb helps to prevent muscular cramp.

ReplyWhere does hard liquor fit in to the equation, cause it makes you feel better than both water and herbal tea combined, shouldn't that be taken in to account?
Replyhmmm... a poorly titled article. Or someone edited out the comparison information. Here's my take: Water is good (essential intake, keeps cells in correct sodium balance). Herbal tea is good (benefits described above). They are just different!
