Event Updates:

The Guinness World Record of the "Treadmill, Fastest Time to Run 100 km (TEAM), is about to be challenged by a strong Australian team of 12, led by current and three time World Ironman Triathlon Champion Craig Alexander.

The record is currently held by a 12 man team from the Twin City Track Club in North Carolina USA with a time of 5 hrs, 42 mins and 32 secs. Some of Australia's most talented athletes which includes Craig along with Australian marathon legend Steve Moneghetti, 2011 50-55 age group Triathlon World Champion John Mergler, current Australian record holder over a mile Lisa Corrigan, elite lifeguards Stephen Madden and Clint Kimmins with Bondi Rescue's Andrew ‘Reidy' Reid and Adriel ‘Bacon' Young.

The team will be doing it for an extra special reason, to also raise awareness and funds for the KIDS Foundation, who support inspirational young Australian's with a with challenges of their own. The foundation works to both educate about injury prevention as well as to support seriously injured children who have endured trauma, horrific burns and other life changing injuries.

Craig along with his team will ride for young people like Matt and Kel, Craig met at a KIDS Foundation camp recently. Matt at the age of 3 was in hospital for three and a half months, including 33 days in intensive care, mainly due to the many complications that arose from the burns and subsequent infections. Matt's prognosis was not good and after two cardiac arrests in the intensive care until, the doctors suggested his life support be switched off. Matt had already fought so hard that his family held out hope that he would improve and after two weeks, he was able to survive independently. Matt has needed many skin grafts and has lost parts of all his fingers. Today he still endures many operations for skin releases as well as operations on his legs where the bones were affected by the infections.

Matt is supported by the KIDS foundation, where he attends camps and other programs the KIDS foundation offer young survivors. One of Matt's greatest achievements is after being introduced to Karate at camp, now just about to attempt his black belt.
