Why did you decide to bare your soul on national TV?
I've always enjoyed music. I think everyone has that inner want or need to be a rock star at some point in their life! I didn't think I really could sing, but I thought it'd be fun to try anyway. It's an extremely vulnerable situation to be in, especially because it's live. If you hit a bung note, you can't just yell ‘Cut'! I feel I can do anything now because it's pushed me way out of my comfort zone.
Were you a David Campbell fan prior to It Takes Two?
I'm probably his number one fan now, but he's on his way back in the room so we better stop talking about him! No, he's hilarious; we've had so much fun the whole time. Both of us are getting married at the end of the year so now we'll actually get to spend some time planning our weddings.
Have you set a date yet?
It'll be at the end of October. I've done nothing in terms of planning though, so getting eliminated is probably a blessing in disguise!
Your last performance was on '80s night - what are your recollections of the decade?
You know what, I wasn't really a teen until the end of the '80s so I think I missed out on the embarrassing fashion faux pas. I did do fluoro socks and the teased fringe, though. I think I was a lot more embarrassing in the '90s when I got to teendom and started experimenting with Lycra!
David made me watch a lot of John Hughes movies like The Breakfast Club, and we talked about old shows like Family Ties. To be frank, I think he really wishes it still was the 1980s, the way he's been talking about it! It's the first love of his life almost. Although, I don't think bringing the mullet back is an option at this stage - at least I'm hoping it's not.
Is there a tune you wish you'd had the chance to sing on live TV?
We'd picked Donna Summer's "Last Dance", which was going to be a corker! Maybe it was a sign.
How well did you get on with your fellow contestants?
Awesomely. I shared a dressing room with Candice Falzon and Sara Groen. Needless to say, it made me really concentrate on my diet - they're both just stunning, lovely girls. But everyone gelled really well - we shared a common bond in that we were all absolutely petrified!
Who do you tip to win?
Russell Robertson or Julia Morris. Julia has a great voice and a fantastic personality. She knows every single person's name in the cast and crew; she walks down the street and she'll just chat to people. She told me her husband won't go with her to get milk any more coz it takes her three hours - she just chats to everyone!
You've had two children in quick succession - how are you enjoying life as a mum?
I'm a glutton for punishment, my mother says! No, I truly believe I was born to be a mum; having children has been the best thing I've ever done. I have missed them terribly so I'm looking forward to spending more time with them now. Phoenix is only 5 months old and she's growing so quickly, so not seeing her for a day or two makes a huge difference.
What's Mat like as a dad?
He is very hands-on. He's amazing. He helps me out a lot with all the dirty work, and gets up early for nappy changes!
Are you planning to expand your brood?
Well, Mat's got two children as well. Between us we've got four kids so I don't know if we need any more at this stage!
What's next for you?
I don't know, I'm actually quite comfortable going back to be a mum. That's my career of choice at the moment.
