Fatality-free Friday

May 16 11:00am

Friday is Fatality Free Friday - a campaign to save lives on our roads.

Mark New is the father of Corey New, who was killed in a car accident in October 2006. He was one of four boys and to strangers, another sad statistic among 1600 people to die on Australian roads every year - that's an average of 4.3 per day.

“…that's an average of 4.3 road deaths per day.”

Mark has started a new campaign he hopes will take off and be employed worldwide.

The campaign is aiming to have zero fatalities on Australian roads for one day with a push to keep drivers aware on the road and take a pledge that they will take extra care tomorrow.

Figures show people die on Friday, Saturday and Sunday more than any other day.

Maybe the Prime Minister should sit up & take notice of how one death started this campaigne. Great idea, but there is still alot more that can be done to get the road toll down & it starts at home with the parents & ..... to continue

the Prime Ministers can put a law into place how fast manufacturers can make cars go. Speeding & hooning cops you a 24 hour loss of car penalty for what ever age driver you may be, in the end you loss your licence if you repeatedly get caught. The Police would have to get a bigger impound yards.
