what will really work, nothing because no one listens to what we the ordinary tax payer wants they just want our vote to get into power, (either party) I think, to be fair and reasonable to everybody, stop fuel taxs especially the GST, how can you pay a penalty on a penalty?

LOWER TAX FOR LOW INCOME EARNERS.Especially when there is one of you part-time as the company you work for say they can't afford to put you on full time. You can't get another job as they want to minipulate the times they want you to work.No-one wants you to get ahead. Not the company, nor the banks.

The baby bonus should be scrapped. People who can afford to have children don't need it, and it only serves to encourage higher childbirth rates in those people unable to afford to bring up children. And our planet is already grossly overpopulated. Encouraging higher birthrates is very shortsighted.

Spending needs to be discouraged. It is inflationary and you soon learn that you don't need to spend so much to get by. Lower inflation means less pressure on wage rises which means greater competitive advantage in the international market. Either higher GST or tax-free interest on saving would help

Australia seems to be lagging behind in research and development. We come up with hundreds of great ideas, and it's almost inevitable that those ideas head straight overseas. Tax breaks on R&D would be good.

What is considered to be a high income earner? My husband and I are probably considedered to be on the border of this. We will have the right to the baby bonus taken away from us in this weeks' budget. Do they take into account that we practically live on the poverty line to save up for our month

With us now hearing that there are more single women in Australia that married, one would expect the statistic to be very close for men as well. With this been said, why is it that with budget time near, we are only hearing about how it will affect working families, when really the norm now is work

For a huge percentage of 'coupled' Australian, both parties are working to save, dreaming about a family, to have the opportunity to raise children, without losing their house, cars and assets! The baby bonus covers my wage for 3 months; no matter what tax bracket - everyone has a right!!!

My wife is due to give birth in August and we selected a private doctor based on the fact that we would be getting the baby bonus. It should phased out, taking into account those who have commited the bonus to valid things.

Solar power: Even with the rebate, solar panels are still too expensive for most households. Given the urgency of the problem, we need poorer households to have panels also. Best solution: a sliding means test - 100% rebate to low income households to no rebate at the other end
