Skip in it to win it!

Skipping sensation Luke Boon joined us today with a remarkable display that went well beyond the double-unders many of us grew up mastering.

Luke won the Open Male World Rope Skipping Championship and at 15 was the youngest person to ever win an Open Male World Championship. My team of 5 incredibly talented skippers also broke a world record in the Double Dutch speed, collecting two gold medals and winning the overall 15-17 mixed World Rope Skipping Championship!

He is a strong supporter of Jump Rope For Heart, which this year aims to break the world record for mass participation skipping.

Jump Rope For Heart

The Heart Foundation Jump Rope for Heart program was established in Australia in 1983. Since then, more than 8 million Australian school children have participated in the program to promote health and fun while raising valuable funds, raising over 60 million dollars.

Today, around 400,000 children participate each year in over 2300 schools across all states and territories of Australia . We've given schools enough rope to stretch from Sydney to Perth !

Heart Foundation and Cartoon Network have recruited 55,000 to 60,000 kids Australia-wide for this world record attempt in hundreds of venues around Australia . They were originally targeting 8000 to 10,000 kids!

In 2006, a mass participation record was set in the United Kingdom and Ireland. 7,632 children skipped continuously for three minutes in 85 different locations across the country.

Solar power: Even with the rebate, solar panels are still too expensive for most households. Given the urgency of the problem, we need poorer households to have panels also. Best solution: a sliding means test - 100% rebate to low income households to no rebate at the other end
