Top 5 Scariest Stalkers

May 02 07:16am
Uma Thurman's life has been turned upside down while a fan of the Pulp Fiction star faces charges for stalking her.

What drives a show business fan to become a stalker? The trend certainly seems on the rise.

The cult of celerity grows bigger every year, aided by the internet, more pervasive promotion from the entertainment industry and unhealthy TV addiction by some people.

For a celebrity, every new fan brings with them the chance that their interest will turn to an obsession that could endanger their heartthrob.

A former psychiatric patient accused of stalking Uma Thurman told her parents he would kill himself if he was not allowed to talk to her. He believed he was married to Uma and had beenwith her in a previous life.

Uma Thurman's stalker - now heading to court with Uma testifying - managed to get frighteningly close to the actor most recently known for her role in ultra-vilent film Kill Bill.

Jack Jordan, 37, loitered for hours at Thurman's Manhattan apartment. Filled with obsessions and delusions, he even once made into Thurman's trailer on a film set

Jordan is now accused of stalking and aggravated harassment.

I agree that the awful nature of stalking is certainly unpleasant and possibly psychologically damaging to the victim, but disagree with only sympathising with the celebrity (there is often a fine line between admiration and stalking!), and damning the obviously mentally unwell stalker!

I wanted to add that in some ways this is part and parcel of pursuing a celebrity career (which I add comes with huge financial benefits and of course there should be an expectation of public scrutiny). Often these stalkers don't have the resources for help that these celebrities do.

This 300 character max is annoying!
I also wanted to add that I was stalked, so I do know what it feels like. Yet I had no bodyguards, no money for psychiatrist appointments to deal with my distress, no money for lawyers, and no mass public sympathy. These celebs are the lucky ones!

yes I had a gilfriend stalked, then he started on me, like cassandra, we had no money, fancy lawyers etc, but thank god we had a brilliant police detective who got him, found out he had a string of offences in Sydney. He is now in Sydney, the Sydney Police where also looking for him.

Kurt Fearnley: I was relief teaching in Blayney when I met Kurt as a young school boy. The first thing that struck me was his smile and contagious positive outlook at all times. I see nothing has changed with this outstanding Australian. Although I never saw him again, it is a testament to the power of his personality that I have not forgotten him more than 15 years later.
