Gosper slams protesters for their hatred of China

- IOC members growing in anger toward protesters
- Olympic torch may be blown out for good

Following protests and violence along the entire route of the torch relay, the event that has taken the Olympic spirit to all the corners of the globe for before each Olympic games may soon be retired.

This news comes following comments from Australian IOC member Kevin Gosper to the Chinese media that he was "desperately disappointed".

Olympic officials say games chiefs will this week discuss scrapping international torch relays for future Games following protests that have disrupted the London event and brought a halt to the French relay.

"They just take their hate out on whatever the issues are at the time, and that hate against the host country is being taken out on our torch," said Gosper.

John Coates, in Beijing for the ANOC, was more moderate, saying, "We have always understood that the Olympic Games and the Torch relay are an opportunity to protest but we don't expect athletes and others carrying the torch to be in any physical danger."

"The Olympians and other torchbearers selected to run with the flame should be allowed to enjoy the moment.  It is a symbol of the values of the Olympic Movement.

"..hate..." - What a terrible and ridiculous comment by Kevin Gosper.
I love China, I lived and worked there for years and hope to return soon, I speak fluent Mandarin, and my wife is Chinese.
However, if I lived in Canberra I would be one of the protesters.

i fine it is sad to see the torch protest.as we had a fair go when we had the Sydney Olympics game .give same back.and put the spirit back in to games,as we don,t take it out on the on the games.Or the Athletes. And we don,t do not blame the people of china as it a pol ital issue.

The Chinese Government promised an improvement in human rights if they got the olympics. Human rights have worsened and Gosper should highlight this and stop giving a blind eye to obvious human rights violation not only in Tibet but all around China.

yeah, right, ferg400. for what reason are you going to joint the protest? for the tibetan issue? educate yourself on the history of tibet and China b4 making hasty comments. The commies in China have killed more Han Chinese (the main ethnic) the any other monority ethnic chinese on percentage basis

to continue on. if you are thinking about protesting the poor human right record in China in general, I am all for it. Your claim of loving China sounds unsincere. The games should have never been given the China as much as Americans and the allied forces should have never gone in Irag.
