BRISBANE
PROPERTY PRICES

  • The average house price was $425,000 up 20% over the past year.
  • The average unit price was $322,000 up 11% over the past year

PETROL PRICES

  • The average unleaded petrol price for February was $1.28 a litre.
  • Compared with six months ago, it was $1.16 a litre in September.


GROCERY PRICES

  • The Bureau of Statistics looked at the average cost of a basket of groceries including meat, grains, fresh fruit and veg, tinned fruit and veg, confectionary, eggs, tea and coffee, margarine, baby food and household supplies including detergents, toilet paper and pet food.
  • In December 2007 it cost $239 and in June it cost $237.


SYDNEY
PROPERTY PRICES

  • The average house price was $553,000 up 5% over the past year.
  • The average unit price was $370,000 up 2% over the past year.
  • According to Australian Property Monitors units are undervalued, cheap compared to other state capitals and are set to rise strongly this year.


PETROL PRICES

  • The average unleaded petrol price for February was $1.38 a litre.
  • Compared with six months ago, it was $1.23 a litre in September.


GROCERY PRICES

  • In December 2007 it cost $241 and in June it cost $237.


MELBOURNE
PROPERTY PRICES

  • Melbourne’s house values have soared 25% over the past year.
  • They jumped 9% in the last three months of 2007.
  • The average house price in December 07 was $463,000.
  • Melbourne apartment values rose 6% in 2007.
  • The average units price was $335,000.
  • Melbourne property will be the most expensive in Australia by 2009 if this growth continues.


PETROL PRICES

  • The average unleaded petrol price for February was $1.37 a litre.
  • Compared with six months ago, it was $1.22 a litre in September.


GROCERY PRICES
In December 2007 it cost $242 and in June it cost $238.

HOBART
PROPERTY PRICES

  • The average house price was $281,000 up 11% over the past year.
  • The average unit price was $246,000 up 19% over the past year.


PETROL PRICES

  • The average unleaded petrol price for February was $1.44 a litre.
  • Compared with six months ago, it was $1.27 a litre in September.


GROCERY PRICES
In December 2007 it cost $247 and in June it cost $242.

ADELAIDE
PROPERTY PRICES

  • The average house price was $401,000 up 20% over the past year.
  • The average unit price was $262,000 up 24% over the past year.
  • The property boom is expected to continue in Adelaide but not at the same rate.


PETROL PRICES

  • The average unleaded petrol price for February was $1.30 a litre.
  • Compared with six months ago, it was $1.21 a litre in September.


GROCERY PRICES
In December 2007 it cost $243 and in June it cost $237.

PERTH
PROPERTY PRICES

  • The average house price was $509,000 up 2% over the past year.
  • The average unit price was $348,000 up 1% over the past year.
  • Perth and Darwin were the only capitals to record a loss over the last three months of 2007.
  • Perth units dropped 2.4% in the quarter and houses dropped 0.4%.
  • Perth property values are expected to continue to weaken in 2008.

  • The average unleaded petrol price for February was $1.36 a litre.
  • Compared with six months ago, it was $1.23 a litre in September.


GROCERY PRICES
In December 2007 it cost $251 and in June it cost $244.

DARWIN
PROPERTY PRICES

  • The average house price was $444,000 up 5% over the past year.
  • The average unit price was $284,000 down 2% over the past year.
  • Perth and Darwin were the only capitals to record a loss over the last three months of 2007.
  • Darwin property values are expected to continue to weaken in 2008.


PETROL PRICES

  • The average unleaded petrol price for February was $1.47 a litre.
  • Compared with six months ago, it was $1.35 a litre in September.


GROCERY PRICES
In December 2007 it cost $257 and in June it cost $256.

CANBERRA
PROPERTY PRICES

  • The average house price was $507,000 up 15% over the past year.
  • The average unit price was $347,000 up 11% over the past year.


PETROL PRICES

  • The average unleaded petrol price for February was $1.38 a litre.
  • Compared with six months ago, it was $1.23 a litre in September.


GROCERY PRICES
In December 2007 it cost $246 and in June it cost $247.
