Rihanna on assault aftermath

Nov 06 08:36am

[IMG1 L] - After being beaten by singer Chris Brown in February, pop star Rihanna felt embarrassed she fell in love with the type of man he was and left him to set an example for young women, she said in an interview on Thursday.

After the pop singer was named Woman of the Year by Glamour magazine on Tuesday, she described to Barbra Walters how the release of a photo of her beaten face added to the humiliation.

'I woke up as Britney Spears' Rihanna said of the media frenzy that overtook her life. The attention included helicopters hovering over her house and months of speculation that she was getting back with her abusive boyfriend, Chris Brown.

What do you think of Rihanna's reaction to the abuse she suffered? Have your say...

I think she had cohones the size of watermelons to actually leave him and do so publicly - pity more women in abusive relationships didn't do that. Any guy who beats on a woman like that is roadkill, I don't care how famous or talented they are.

I congratulate her for her courage. I'm 7 months out of a similar situation and she's just so right about the shame. Its humiliating to admit you could love a monster. Kochie, 3 cheers for your opinion of how girls are portrayed..sexy b**** is not a compliment. It is just horrifying.

Cheers to you for bringing forward, the fact that the music clips are the real problem... as you would notice ,the youny males dress like ,there nappies are full and that their pants hang down ..and as for the women, she is nothing but a sex symbol.... thanks kochie 4 supporting the young

Kurt Fearnley: I was relief teaching in Blayney when I met Kurt as a young school boy. The first thing that struck me was his smile and contagious positive outlook at all times. I see nothing has changed with this outstanding Australian. Although I never saw him again, it is a testament to the power of his personality that I have not forgotten him more than 15 years later.
