I was disappointed to hear such xenophobic comments coming from Kochie this morning in relation to the Asylum Seeker issues. Asylum seekers cannot simply, "go back to their own countries." They are often fleeing genocide, war crimes and other human atrocities.

Kochi, you really are the least emotionally intelligent person! Do you really think any of these asylum seekers think they'll still be alive in 12 months if they go back to the same Indonesian refugee centres they have just left because of abuse that they've very publically told the world about.

Where are the people who have received so much money from each boat person? They are probably the ones on Hamilton Island. Why isn't something being done about them?

I could not agree more with Kochy. These people have tried to come into the country illegally. Whilst I have sympathy with their plight, they have tried to short cut the system and now they have been caught out, they are doing a dummy spit. Let them go through the correct channels. Graeme.

Kochie for Prime Minister! I totally agree with you all, at school I was taught an asylum seeker was someone who could no longer live in their country and needed refuge in another, so why do they pass so many other countries to get here and why so many demands on us the ones who are willing to help?

Re these refugees I am thoroughly sick of hearing about them. Australia is a small nation on a big continent and the tax payers are the ones who end up paying for all these people. The inequality in what they get paid versus our unemployed is criminal.Their children get free private education do our

If they do not wish to accept the Austrealia offer then they should be taken back to their own country. They have come in illegally and should take what they get. The sad thing is that for many people, who want to come here legally and are doing things by the book, have to wait years to be processed

They should use the proper channels like everyone else and be taught our ways and language etc. They should be encouraged to find work and fend for themselves & not be a burden on the state system or taxpayers. Also they should not been seen to being given more opportunities than our own unemployed.

Sorry aussies this country has become known as the easy beats .. And if we believe everything thats said in the press about asylumseekers paying $18000 ... Then they are millionairs in their own country check out the exchange rates ..No one would earn that much

People that say they're gonna kill themselves usually don't, they're bluffing, Call their bluff, drop them off or like someone said, take them back to their country, the govt. can't set a precedent by caving to their demands or others will do the same thinkin they'll get their way too.

Kurt Fearnley: I was relief teaching in Blayney when I met Kurt as a young school boy. The first thing that struck me was his smile and contagious positive outlook at all times. I see nothing has changed with this outstanding Australian. Although I never saw him again, it is a testament to the power of his personality that I have not forgotten him more than 15 years later.
