Best caravan parks in Australia

Feb 04 08:57am
Australian Traveller's Greg Barton came on SUNRISE to explain how far caravan parks have come.

How far have caravan parks come since the bad old days?
A good Caravan Park in the bad old days was once determined SOLELY by its location, and if you were lucky there might be a bbq or two, plus a dreadful communal shower block. Nowadays, services include powered-sites for motorhomes with adjoining ensuite bathrooms, resort-style swimming pools, some even have their own tiny golf courses, tour desks, games rooms -- Arkaroola in the Flinders even has its own observatory!

Well what can I say - I am hear now at the YAMBA BLUE DOLPIN RESORT and we and the kids are loving it. The pools are great for all the family, theres a tennis court and kids play rooms - The kids have never been so worn out before. We are staying in a Villa and it is fantastic. Can't wait for our next holiday to come back. Andrew from Brisbane.

Ashmore Palms on the Gold Coast in an awesome camping ground to stay. Great for the kids and relaxing for mum and dad. The pool and facilities were also wonderful. Have been there twice. We have been there twice now from NZ and would most certainly stay again when we are next over.

Ashmore Palms is the best holiday park our family has ever stayed at by far.It is located 10 minutes from the heart of Surfers paradise .It is only 15 minutes to the theme parks. It has beautiful wildbird avaries scattered everywhere & the accomodation comparable to a 5 star hotel. Brilliant

I also add my support to Ashmore Palms Holiday Village. We stayed a few years ago and loved every minute. The activities were great, the pool area, the cabins, the whole park was great. It is the only place that we go for holidays. We are hoping to return again this year.

Definitely Ashmore Palms on the Gold coast is an awesome place to stay. Terrific central location 15 mins from everywhere and the facilities are 2nd to none. We stayed there 2 years ago and hoping to get back there again this year.

hey you guys forgot Ashmore Palms in the Gold Coast. We have stayed at a number of Caravan Parks in Aus and NZ and this would have to be one of the very best. Excellent facilities, so family friendly, superfriendly staff! Can't be beaten!

Kurt Fearnley: I was relief teaching in Blayney when I met Kurt as a young school boy. The first thing that struck me was his smile and contagious positive outlook at all times. I see nothing has changed with this outstanding Australian. Although I never saw him again, it is a testament to the power of his personality that I have not forgotten him more than 15 years later.
