UK psychologists have found the five things we can all do everyday to stay happy and therefore sane.

Tim Sharp is a psychologist also known as Dr Happy and runs The Happiness Institute (www.happinessinstitute.com.au focussing on positive psychology.

Steps to Happiness

Connect
Developing relationships with family, friends, colleagues and neighbours will enrich your life and bring you support

Be active
Sports, hobbies such as gardening or dancing, or just a daily stroll will make you feel good and maintain mobility and fitness

Be curious
Noting the beauty of everyday moments as well as the unusual and reflecting on them helps you to appreciate what matters to you

Learn
Fixing a bike, learning an instrument, cooking
the challenge and satisfaction brings fun and confidence

Give
Helping friends and strangers links your happiness to a wider community and is very rewarding

find something everyday to be positive about.

Being grateful for what we do have is a great way to create a more positive life. So much of our life is created in our own head, so why not fill it with positive thoughts rather than negative ones. Its so easy to be negative, it requires much less of you than being positive does.

Kurt Fearnley: I was relief teaching in Blayney when I met Kurt as a young school boy. The first thing that struck me was his smile and contagious positive outlook at all times.
