Tastiest beer marinade of all time

Jan 08 11:56pm
Prep Time Cook Time Serves
6-24hrs 20mins 2-3 (1kg)
Ingredients
  • 1L of lager
  • 4 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 whole medium onion sliced
  • 3 sprigs thyme
  • 2 sprigs rosemary
  • 4tb tomato sauce
  • 2tb worcestshire sauce
  • 2tb soy sauce
  • Black pepper
  • pinch salt
Method
  1. Put the steak and all the other ingredients in a bowl and let it stand in the fridge for 1 hour. For maximum flavour and the best result, let it marinate for at least 6 hours and not more than 24 hours (it will start to cure). After cooking your steak as desired, use the same pan to reduce the marinade until it coats the back of your spoon and use it as a sauce.
Woah - this is the BBQing holy grail...

Marinating the steak in beer or red wine can cut the cancer causing properties by 90 per cent

It's a nice easy meal for a guy who isn't that comfortable in the kitchen, but wants something a little extra from his steak.

Someone needs to check the spelling in this recipe. Lager not larger & a marinade or to marinate, worcestershire!

Kurt Fearnley: I was relief teaching in Blayney when I met Kurt as a young school boy. The first thing that struck me was his smile and contagious positive outlook at all times. I see nothing has changed with this outstanding Australian. Although I never saw him again, it is a testament to the power of his personality that I have not forgotten him more than 15 years later.
