Geoff's weight loss battle
Sunrise Online asked Geoff Huegill about how he kicked the fast food habits that left him with many cheeseburgers to work off in the pool.
When you were out of your training regime, which kinds of fast food were your favourite?
All of them were my favourite!
I wasnt particular (laughs).
I didn't usually have fast food more than once a day but I did eat it at least four times a week.
Most times I ate it just because I was really too lazy to cook.
It could be something easy to pick up on the way home or sometimes for a social pizza night
I don't think it's that bad - it's bad having it every single day.
Honestly, once a week is not bad but if you eat 21 main meals a week, and you're having take out for 15 or 18 of those, that's just wrong.
Why didn't you change if you knew it was getting unhealthy?
I think you just get complacent with it.
Its about breaking all those routines and habits.
Were you raised to eat well?
I was always good at cooking - I love cooking. My mum runs a Thai restaurant so she's a chef and my mother-in-law is also a great cook. I guess I've always around the kitchen preparing good food.
What are you eating now?
Because I'm swimming now, I stick to a lot of salads.
I really love getting back to whole, natural foods, fruits, things high in protein.
I also believe in basic methods as opposed to frying - deep frying or even shallow frying. Steaming and salads instead.
I just use whatever's in the fridge.
